Jake Turner
Venture Builder · Writer · Pilot in Training
I build, operate, and scale real businesses.
My work centers on creating and growing operating companies across construction, development, real estate, and specialty services—where execution, licensing, and discipline matter as much as vision.
I founded Martlet Group, a diversified holding company with a focus on commercial real estate and operating platforms. I am a shareholder in Butler Window & Door, and I currently serve in senior construction and operational leadership roles across multiple licensed companies as a Class A construction executive, leading execution, compliance, and operational buildout alongside ownership partners.
Prior to my current work, I spent more than 20 years as an investment portfolio manager and active trader, managing capital across multiple market cycles. Along the way, I founded and successfully exited an investment firm and have acquired, operated, and sold businesses spanning hospitality, entertainment, and development-related industries.
Over the last several decades, I’ve experienced both the highs and the lows of building companies—starting businesses, buying and selling operating companies, and navigating shifting economic environments. I’ve led teams through growth and contraction, including managing hospitality and entertainment ventures through a once-in-a-lifetime global pandemic—an experience that demanded adaptability, humility, and resolve.
Yet one of the most challenging periods of my life has been navigating a long, complex, and ongoing divorce. That experience—more than any market cycle or business setback—forced deeper self-reflection, accountability, and personal growth than anything I’ve faced before. It reshaped how I lead, how I communicate, and how I define success—not just in business, but in life.Today, I’m focused on building durable platforms, operating with integrity, and documenting the lessons learned along the way. I’m also a writer and pilot-in-training, driven by the belief that discipline, craftsmanship, and personal responsibility shape outcomes—both in business and beyond. Here, you’ll learn more about who I am, what I’m building, and why I’m passionate about the OLSB brand.
